St. Louis County Deputies Shoot & Kill Armed Reckless Driving Suspect in Duluth
Preliminary information released Wednesday morning indicates the deadly incident began around 9:40 Tuesday night when the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a reckless driver on Grand Avenue and 59th Avenue West in Duluth.
Ramsay said deputies attempted a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle fled. Law enforcement eventually stopped the vehicle in the 7900 block of Grand Avenue.
Ramsay indicates the deadly officer-involved shooting occurred in that area. “During the incident, shots were fired by two deputies and the adult male driver and only occupant in the car was struck,” Ramsay said.
The man received first aid but the life-saving efforts were not successful and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Ramsay.
The St. Louis County Sheriff also said deputies found a handgun in the driver’s seat of the vehicle the suspect was driving. No deputies were physically injured.
Ramsay says the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office requested the BCA to investigate the deadly incident. Both Ramsay and the BCA say more information will be released as it becomes available.
