The Governor re-upped his call on federal agents to leave the Twin Cities.

The Department of Homeland Security is confirming the person was killed in the shooting. A social media post from the agency says he was armed with a "a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun."

Federal officials say he approached U.S. Boarder Patrol officers who were conducting a "targeted operation." The agents attempted to disarm the man but he resisted, DHS says.

DHS says they plan to release more information about the struggle that preceded the deadly shooting at a later time.

During a news conference Saturday morning, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara described the person killed as a "37-year-old white male who is a Minneapolis resident." O'Hara also said limited information obtained by Minneapolis police also indicates the man is believed to be a U.S. citizen.

He said the man was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. O'Hara said they believe the man had a permit to carry and called him a "lawful gun owner."

O'Hara called on federal agents to operate "with the same discipline humanity and integrity that effective law enforcement in this country demands.

O'Hara also said an unlawful assembly is occurring in the area of the shooting and that dispersal orders have been given. He also called on the community to remain peaceful.
