Fire Destroys Faribault Home

The Faribault Fire Department, Police Department and North Ambulance were all dispatched 12:38 a.m. November 6, 2023 to a report of a house on fire at 607 Hulett Avenue.

According to a Media Release from Fire Chief Dustin Dienst the caller to 911 reported they could see flames.

Upon arrival, "Flames were shooting out of windows on the west side home."

Chief Dienst stated, "Firefighters took a defensive stance to fight this fire.  The home was known to be vacant and there are no exposures.  Morristown Fire was called for mutual aid but it was determined that the structure was not safe to enter to fully extinguish.  An excavator was brought in to knock down the structure so the fire could be safely put out."

Crews cleared the scene at 5:25 a.m.

The Faribault Fire Department contacted the State Fire Marshal but because of the safety to firefighters, the building was knocked down limiting the ability to conduct an investigation.  Therefore it was determined the Fire Marshal was not needed to investigate.

Chief Dienst commented, "This fire is suspicious but due to circumstances out of our control, determining a cause will be a challenge.  No one was hurt in the incident and that's what matters most."
