Beautiful Private Islands You Can Rent in Minnesota for an Epic Getaway
Take some time this summer to get away from it all. Take a long weekend or an entire week to unwind and remove yourself from the daily hustle and bustle by renting out a private island. Lucky for us, there are actually quite a few private islands around Minnesota that you can rent.

The Perfect Summer Getaway
I feel like renting a private island is like the ultimate glamping getaway. There's a cabin already built on the island, you're in the middle of a beautiful lake, and there's no one else around.
It's all of the amazing parts of camping without all of the people and without having to sleep on the ground.
Obviously, since they're islands, you'll need a boat to get to and from where you're staying. Luckily, if you don't have a boat, all but one of these private islands have a boat you can rent during your stay.
Private Islands to Stay in Minnesota
Strand Island - Pelican Lake, Orr, MN
Stand Island is a whopping 45 acres and you get it all to yourself! There are 8 bedrooms so you can bring friends or extended family along for the trip.
There's plenty of outdoor space to relax either by the lake, in the woods, or on the water.
If you need a boat, you can rent a pontoon through the hosts for $700 per week. Speaking of pricing, I wasn't able to figure out the price per night but there's a $1,000 refundable damage deposit so I can't imagine it's cheap.
Also, in the summer they have a 7-night minimum and during off-peak time it's a 4-night minimum.
Island on Bad Medicine Lake, Ponsford, MN
The cabin on this island is 4,000 sqft with enough room to sleep 12! So this is another great option for a bigger group.
The island is only about 1.5 acres but that's really all the space you need if you're looking for a relaxing week away from everything.
If you need a boat, they have a pontoon available for $500 per week. They require a 7-night minimum and the pricing I saw was $575 per night.
Island on Juggler Lake, Round Lake, MN
This cute little cabin on Juggler Lake is another spot where you can stay this summer. It can sleep up to 10 people. I'm not sure how big the island is but it doesn't look massive.
There are a couple of great outdoor living spots where you'd probably find me the whole time I'd be staying at a place like this.
Their pontoon is available to rent for $300 for your entire stay plus $100 for a 25-gallon tank of gas. They also have a 7-night minimum here and the price I'm seeing is $399 per night.
Island on Shagawa Lake, Ely, MN
A much smaller cabin is this one on Shagawa Lake. It sleeps 4 people and is only 450 sqft. That doesn't bother me, though, because if you have your own private island I'd just be outside the whole time.
Remember how I said that renting a private island is like glamping? This one is a little less like glamping because there isn't any running water. However, if you don't mind roughing it a little, this is a really cool spot.
There's no boat to rent but the owner will pick you up to take you to and from the island at the start and end of your stay. There's also a fishing boat and a canoe for you to use while you're there.
The cost to stay on this private island is just $200 per night, which is the cheapest of all of them.
Island on Lake Vermillion, Tower, MN
This island on Lake Vermillion is 13 acres that you get all to yourself! It has a nice big deck to kick back on.
There's also a cute screened-in porch down by the water.
It can sleep 9 guests and there's plenty of outdoor space to chill, either on the dock, around the fire, or hiking around checking out the island.
The downside to this one is there is no boat to get you to and from the island, you need to have your own.
Pricing for this place is $425 per night and there's a 4-night minimum.
