Minnesota’s Favorite Christmas Movie Isn’t Really One At All
What's the holiday season without those beloved Christmas movies? Well, a new survey says Minnesota's Favorite Christmas Movie isn't really a Christmas movie at all.
That's the word from the crew over at ClickCupid, anyway. They just completed a new survey that found the Most Popular Christmas Movie in Each State. To get the results, ClickCupid said, "Using Google Trends and Google AdWords, we were able to compare the total search volume of terms like 'where to watch Carol', 'Carol Netflix' and other similar terms during the Christmas holiday period in each state. We also considered the suggestions by Rotten Tomatoes of what makes the best Christmas movies of all time."
And the results show that here in Minnesota, our favorite Christmas movie isn't Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story or even on of the classics like White Christmas or It's A Wonderful Life. Nope. Here in the North Star State, our favorite Christmas move is... Die Hard.
That's right, the 1988 action film that put Bruce Willis on the map is our favorite Christmas movie here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Online data in the survey show it was also our favorite back in 2018 and 2019 as well.
Of course, that comes with some controversy, seeing as ClickCupid also noted in the same survey that 56-percent of us don't actually think Die Hard even IS a Christmas movie. I mean, sure, it's set on Christmas Eve (at 'Nakatomi Plaza' in Los Angeles) but it doesn't really have a holiday theme to it, does it?
Die Hard is also the favorite holiday movie out in Colorado, Alaska, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Wyoming as well. Over in my home state of Wisconsin, Carol is the favorite, as it is down in Iowa as well.
You can check the full survey out HERE. And while the question of whether or not Die Hard is an actual Christmas movie or not is still up in the air, there's no question about these TV Christmas specials. Keep scrolling to see how many of these YOU'VE watched...
