The Leadership Greater Rochester Class of 2015 has announced their community impact project. Their goal is to improve youth literacy by constructing and installing 40 new mini libraries throughout Rochester neighborhoods.

A mini library is a free standing structure placed on a homeowner's property. The homeowner serves as a host for the library making sure it's stocked with a variety of books. People in the neighborhood are then encouraged to pick up a book to read or bring a book to share.

Studies prove that providing children with barrier-free access to books is critical to encouraging good reading habits.

LGR 2015 will be holding book drives on March 21st and 28th from 10am to 2pm at: Hy-Vee South, Hy-Vee Barlow, People's Food Co-Op, Fareway Foods, Apache Mall (Easter Bunny Photo Area) and Barnes & Noble at Apache Mall.
