Rochester Public Utilities workers are headed to Florida to lend a helping hand to repair damage that may be caused by Hurricane Dorian.

The five lineworkers and one fleet worker are headed to Kissimmee and may be there as long as two weeks if needed. They are part of a caravan of workers from several Minnesota utilities consisting of 18 municipal line crews (42 lineworkers), along with 15 bucket trucks, 1 digger/derrick, and several support vehicles.

RPU and other Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association utilities last helped with mutual aid back in 2017 with Hurricane Irma repairs in Kissimmee and surrounding communities.
