Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was still in surgery at St Mary’s Hospital at last report after being stabbed during an overnight fight in the downtown.

Police received several 911 calls around 1:30 a.m. Friday about a fight involving 8 - 12 males along Historic 3rd Street near the former City Hall building.

A spokesman says the group had scattered when officers arrived but they did find the 23-year-old victim on the ground. He was taken to the ER for treatment of three stab wounds, one to the lower rib cage area and two leg injuries. The injuries were described as non-life threatening.

The spokesman says a  29-year-old suspect was later arrested and is facing charges. The spokesman says it's not known at this time what prompted the fight.
