Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - About 400 members of the Mankato-based 2nd Battalion-135th Infantry Regiment have been informed of an upcoming overseas deployment.

The Minnesota National Guard soldiers belong to companies headquartered in Rochester, Winona and West St. Paul. Officials say they are scheduled to depart in July for training at Fort Bliss in Texas before heading to Egypt by the end of the summer to join the Multi-National Force that enforces the 1979 peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

"Our soldiers are well trained, experienced and ready when called upon," said Lt. Col. Jon Ostercamp, battalion commander. "Now that we have received our mobilization orders, we can provide some clarity for our families and employers on the year ahead and focus our training on this important mission."

The overseas deployment is expected to last 9 months.
