Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester homebuilders took out 33 permits for new single family houses last month.

That raised the year-to-date total to 104, compared to 91 at the same time a year ago.

Permits were also approved by the city for two large residential projects.  An $8.3 million permit was taken out by Volunteers of America for its Homestead assisted living project.

The developer of the Buckeye apartment complex being built near the Government Center took out a permit for the building’s footings and foundation that was valued at $2.4 million.

April’s new building permit activity raised the valuation total so far this year to $145 million.
