Brooklyn Par, MN (KROC-AM News) - A shooting in a Twin Cities suburb has left a young child in critical condition.

A news release from the Brooklyn Park Police Department indicates officers were dispatched to an apartment shortly after 7 AM in response to a 911 call from a person who reported that a 2-year-old child had been shot. The first officers to arrive at the scene performed CPR and first aid before the toddler was rushed to a local hospital.

The news release says numerous adults were in the residence when the child was shot and the occupants provided conflicting information about the events leading up to the shooting. Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicated a young man known by the street name "BD," ran out of the apartment after the shooting occurred. Officials say it is not yet known if he was involved in the shooting.

The Brooklyn Park Police Department has not reported any arrests in the case.
