Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - The man suspected of robbing a Rochester bank Monday was arrested Tuesday shortly after he robbed the same bank.

A Rochester Police spokesman says 36-year-old Ryan Liskow was apprehended less than an hour after he held up Sterling State Bank along Bandel Road northwest.

The van being driven by Liskow had been stolen from his father on Sunday and police were able to connect it to Tuesday's noon hour robbery - through a live TV news report. KIMT reporter Adam Sallet was outside the bank doing a story about the Monday robbery when an employee ran up and told him they had just been held up again.

Thanks to Sallet and other witnesses, the description of the van was put out to area officers. One of them was Rochester officer Jim Novak, who was returning from a training class in the Twin Cities. He spotted the van, called for help and began following it. Officers made a forced stop of the van near Coates and Liskow was apprehended.

Police say Liskow admitted to both robberies, saying he knew he was going to get caught.

Liskow was recently paroled after serving time for a 2009 bank robbery. He is expected to be turned over to federal authorities.
