We Now Know What This Tiny Red Bug Is Inside Minnesota Homes
Every morning this week, something is joining me in my bathroom. I didn't invite it. I think it is a bit on the gross side. I even kill it but the next day, another one shows up. What is this little red bug that keeps showing up in my house in Minnesota?
Can You Identify This Little Red Bug That Keeps Showing Up in My Bathroom in Minnesota?
We've had a bit of a dry summer and because of that, the earwigs outside (which are nasty, btw!) are now showing up in our doorframes and trying to get in our house. I'm used to those. I think they are disgusting but I am no longer freaked out by their claws and slim little body. That is NOT the bug though that I am seeing now.

A new bug has shown up in my house and lately, it is joining me in my bathroom every morning. I see it as I'm curling my hair and then...I squish it. But then another one shows up the next day. This is a bug that I don't think I've ever seen before but since it must love our house so much, it is probably time to fix this little infestation we've got going on.
Here's a photo that I was able to grab the other morning. It's not a great photo but it is the actual bug that was in my house.
We Now Know What The Little Red Bug Is That's Showing Up In Minnesota
Here's what I found out about this bug that is loving my home right now...it is a baby boxelder bug!
I know what an adult boxelder bug looks like but I didn't know that this little red thing crawling around my bathroom was a baby boxelder. Technically, it is called a nymph.
Thankfully, I've only got a few hanging around and not a big infestation like this video. I would probably scream if I walked into the bathroom and saw thousands of bugs crawling around.
Are Boxelder Bugs Harmful to Humans
The good news is, having a few boxelder bugs isn't going to hurt you. The bugs are able to bite through fruit but they won't hurt humans. The most damage that might happen from this animal is a little stain on light fabric from their feces. Gross, I know, but it isn't going to hurt you.
