Weather Impacts SocialICE’s Opening Night
Organizers know it's a gamble to plan an outdoor event in February. The weather was brutally cold for last year's SocialICE event, but sometimes it's so nice that the ice sculptures actually start melting. The forecast for the next three days should make organizers and event-goers happy, but one of the new activities planned for this year won't be available tonight when the party kicks off.
The Rochester Downtown Alliance posted this message to Facebook: "Because mother nature withheld one more cold overnight, curling presented by DMC - Destination Medical Center will premiere Friday of SocialICE. We will have regularly scheduled programming - i.e. ice bars, sculptures, and DJs - for Thursday's SocialICE - Rochester Minnesota's Ice Bar. See you there!"
