What does Memorial Day look like in your neighborhood?

One of my very prized momentos is Dad's flag. He passed away on Mother's Day, 2000. We were living in Georgia. The nearest military cemetery is across the border in Alabama. Mom was given his flag on behalf of a grateful nation.

Dad was a radio man in the Air Force between WWII and The Korean War. He traveled the country, but didn't see any action.

My nephew is a Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine, hoo-uh!! He served in Afghanistan. Hot and dry, but not a whole lot of action there, either.

There are a few ceremonies around Byron tomorrow morning before the parade to Byron Cemetery at 10 a.m.

The parade to Dover-Eyota High School for the Memorial Day program there starts at 11 a.m.

At 9:45 tomorrow morning there's a procession from Central Park to the Soldiers Field Memorial. At noon there's the dedication of the Bell of Honor there.

What Memorial Day ceremonies are going on in your neighborhood? Drop a comment with a photo.
