Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department issued an apology this afternoon for a mistake in the identification of the elderly woman who apparently died of hypothermia early Monday.

A news release issued this afternoon identified the victim of the tragic incident as 84-year-old Marian Keefe. The initial police report incorrectly stated the deceased had been identified as 92-year-old Marian Keith.

The other details concerning the incident are unchanged. Police say a surveillance video shows Keefe walking out of the assisted living center around 2:30 Monday morning. A homeowner living several blocks away from the property found Keefe lying in the snow outside a garage around 7:45 AM.

She was transported to St. Mary's hospital where she was pronounced dead. The police report says Keefe was wearing a jacket but the temperature was only around 20 degrees when she was found.

The staff at Shorewood Commons told police they found her in the lobby of the building around 2 AM Monday and helped her back to her room. A police spokesman says Keefe had reportedly been dealing with recent memory issues but was not a resident of the facility's memory care unit.
