‘Store Closing’ Signs Up at Popular Bridal Store in Minnesota
"Store Closing" Signs Spotted at Popular Bridal Store in Minnesota
I heard recently that several individuals were on the hunt for a tailor to make a few alterations for a dress. These aren't normal dresses that you wear to work, they are wedding dresses. Usually, brides have these alterations happen at the store where the dress was purchased, which was actually the plan. Unfortunately, the store that they bought the dress from in Rochester, Minnesota was closing.
After work, I went to David's Bridal at the TJ Maxx Plaza to see if the news was true and the answer is "yes". If you are looking for a bargain on formal wear, according to the sign on the front of the store, it looks like you've got 6 more days to save a ton of cash.
If you missed the news stories back in April, David's Bridal filed its second Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Initially, it was indicated that they would try to keep their website and close to 300 stores operational and fulfill orders from customers while they looked for a buyer. According to a story by CNN on April 17th, 2023, if they weren't able to find a buyer, they would need to start liquidating and close all of their stores.
Are Other David Bridal Stores Closing in Minnesota?
According to the signs on the front of the building, it indicates that Rochester is the only store closing. I couldn't find any current info indicating that the Richfield, Maple Grove, Oakdale or Duluth locations were closing. However, I did find a story by Bring Me The News that indicated a WARN notice was provided to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. It stated that between mid-April and mid-August, the Minnesota David's Bridal stores would either be permanently closing or go through mass layoffs.
If I hear any updates about the other stores, I'll post the info on my Facebook page - Jessica On The Radio.
