How Many Dairy Queen Locations Are In Minnesota?

Did you know that Minnesota has one of the highest numbers of Dairy Queen locations per person in all of the United States?  It is true.  According to the Dairy Queen website, there are over 200 locations in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Is it because the headquarters for Dairy Queen is in the Twin Cities area?  Or maybe our love for ice cream in the Land of 10,000 Lakes is just truly the strongest?  That answer has not been determined yet...but it sounds like a survey most of us would love to answer.

Minnesota is also home to the oldest Dairy Queen.  In 2024, I wrote a story about this historic Dairy Queen and how it was ready for a new owner.  The town of Rochester waited patiently for an entire year before the shuttered location opened under new ownership.

If you are hoping to grab a free cone on March 19th, 2026, for free cone day, you can find all of the participating Dairy Queen locations on their website.
