Heat Moving Out, Rain Moving In
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Forecasters with the National Weather Service are keeping an eye on a system that could produce periods of heavy rain across southeast Minnesota and east central Wisconsin Thursday and Friday.
It was the simmering heat that made news across southern Minnesota Tuesday. Appleton, Montevideo, Morris and St James were the hot spots with highs of 99 degrees. Numerous other cities had highs in the mid to upper 90’s, including Albert Lea with a high of 95.
Rochester’s high was 93 just before 4:30. That tied the record for the date that was set in 1973. It also marked the first time since September 10, 2013 that Rochester has experienced 90-degree heat.The National Weather Service says the 637 day streak without a 90-degree reading was the third longest on record for Rochester.
