Amazon announced on Thursday, March 3rd that they are closing 68 stores throughout the country including 2 in Minnesota.

A statement made by Amazon indicated that they would be shifting their brick and mortar strategy, which was started back in 2015 with a campus store for students and grew into additional stores as well as purchasing Whole Foods.  The shift unfortunately will be ending jobs for 68 retail locations, including 2 in Minnesota.

Amazon will continue to remain in the retail industry with a focus on the following stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and throughout the United States

If you are freaking out a bit because Whole Foods is part of the Amazon world, no need to worry.  Amazon is continuing in the retail space that has a focus on groceries as well as other retail stores featuring apparel.  Below are the stores that will remain part of their focus according to USAToday.com.

Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh will remain open.

Amazon did state that they will be helping the employees that are impacted by the store closings find new roles within the company.  Hopefully, all employees will find a new role in the company that fits with their skills and talents.
