Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester family returned home Sunday night to discover a strange man coming out of their apartment in the 600 block of 4th Ave NW.

Police say a 38-year-old member of the family confronted the stranger. Eventually, the man and stranger got into a physical fight outside the building.That’s when the stranger produced a knife and slashed the victim across the face, cutting him above one of his eyes.

The stranger was still there when officers arrived around 10 p.m. and he was arrested.

He has been identified as 38-year-old Thomas Yennie, who is facing a felony assault charge. He told police he recently got out of jail and an acquaintance gave him a key to the apartment, telling him he was renting the unit.
