Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - New construction activity in Rochester continued its brisk pace during June.

The city approved nearly 300 new building permits last month that were valued at $54-million.That pushed the total at the halfway point in the year to over $200-million.

There were two large multi-family projects approved in June. One was an $11.8-million permit for a Volunteers of America project.The other was a $6-million permit for the Lofts at Mayo Park project.

A permit was also issued for another motel along West Circle Drive, north of 26th Street. It was valued at $5.6-million. A permit was also issued for the new Subaru dealership building that was valued at $3.5 million.  

Homebuilders took out 41 permits for single family homes in June, 15 fewer than in May. So far this year, just over 200 permits have been issued for new single family houses.
