Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Heavy rain fell across southeastern Minnesota Saturday morning, leading to flash flooding in some areas.

Saturday’s rainfall totals reported to the National Weather Service were generally in the 1 - 3 inch range.The highest total was near Eyota - nearly four inches. More than three inches fell in Whitewater State Park, where a flash flood warning was issued due to the sudden rise in the Whitewater River and streams.The river crested just above flood stage and only minor flooding was reported.

Numerous street intersections in Rochester were flooded but no problems were reported. The rainfall total in the downtown was just over two inches, most of it falling within one hour. The Rochester airport total was just over an inch. That raised the city’s monthly total to about 5 ½ inches.

It’s expected to be dry through Tuesday - and a little bit cooler. After two days with highs of 90 degrees and triple digit heat index readings, Rochester’s official high Saturday was 78. Highs through Tuesday are expected to be in the middle 80’s.
