Weekend Update is officially going to the Emmys. NBC confirms that SNL writers and stars Colin Jost and Michael Che will host the 2018 ceremony later this year, while creator Lorne Michaels is getting back involved as well.
O.M.G. I am literally on the studio floor laughing. SNL came up with one of the funniest bits I have seen since Justin Timerblake was on as a guest. This one is geared for moms though and I can almost guarantee that anyone with kids, with a couch or thought about hitting the gym will understand.
As if Golden Globes, SAG Awards and a role in Black Panther weren’t enough, Sterling K. Brown’s banner 2018 is adding another honor. The This Is Us star will make his SNL hosting debut in March, flanked by Charles Barkley and Bill Hader.
The ongoing cycle of sexual harassment exposure has repeatedly put SNL in an awkward position; one the show seems reticent to address. In light of accusations against writer-turned-senator Al Franken, however, thirty-six female cast and crew have now spoken out to defend Franken’s name.
We knew changes were coming to SNL Season 43 after the departures of Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan and Sasheer Zamata, but these additions are real buzzer-beaters. Ahead of Saturday’s premiere, SNL welcomes Heidi Gardner, Luke Null and Chris Redd to the series, with more than double as many writers.
