Thursdays Downtown In Rochester Is More Than Just Great Food
The last few weeks, I will admit, the rain and all of the cloudy days we've had in Minnesota were getting to me. I was SO looking forward to Thursdays Downtown, but week after week... canceled. 😭 The rain really knows how to ruin some fun! After weeks of sadness due to no Thursdays Downtown...pretty sure all of Rochester was excited to get out and enjoy it again. But did you know, there is more to Thursdays Downtown than just great food? ❓
You've gotta eat, so nothing wrong with grabbing a few bites of something amazing from one (or two) of the vendors at Thursdays Downtown. But, I explored a bit and went off the "food path", and I found quite a few A.Maz.Ing people...and some fun ways to express yourself.
Truth moment. I did start my Thursdays Downtown journey in food row, so of course, I grabbed some selfies with some vendors that had all of the amazing food smells...Pasquale's Neighborhood Pizzeria, Hefe Rojo, Little Thistle Brewery. And then I went off the beaten path of 1st Ave. and did some exploring.
Just off of 1st Ave., there was a fun selfie booth with Altra Federal Credit Union. I did it at first because I wanted to win their $100 gift card they were giving away. (Yes...you can win some amazing stuff downtown!). This turned into a moment though that I will treasure forever because a few of my co-workers and I spotted the props that were there - microphones, large guitars, hats, sunglasses - we just had to get into the DJ mode. I won't speak for my co-workers, but I sort of felt like that selfie booth was made just for us.
My journey throughout Thursdays Downtown led to reconnecting with some old friends and meeting a few new ones, including the Mayor or Rochester and Second Street Joe! Of course, I just HAD to take a picture in front of the Downtown Rochester sign that is located in the Peace Plaza. This is one of my favorite spots in Rochester for selfies.
