Today I Stopped To Admire The Water Tower
What was it Ferris told us? "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
Cathy and I had dinner last night Sky Dragon Buffet in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center. I've driven by there a bunch of times over the last few weeks. I've seen the big crater. It wasn't until we pulled into the parking lot and were looking for a parking space that we noticed what was missing: Joe's Liquor and Ace Hardware and a couple other shops that were part of Miracle Mile were torn down to create that big crater.
Ever see something, without really noticing it? Sometimes change is a really slow thing that kinda creeps up on ya.
I drive by this water tower on my way in to and home from work. Everyday. Every time I see it, it reminds me of hangin' out with my best friends Steve. He still lives in a small town, 'bout a half an hour or so south of Chicago. A set of railroad tracks run through downtown. Along the tracks is a grain silo. And a water tower.
One day, I noticed that there were a bunch'a trucks parked around the base. Then the barricade fence went up. Then, presto-change-o!, the whole thing disappeared under a curtain. I thought David Blaine was performing some illusion I hadn't read or heard about! Like magic, the tower went from white to gray.
It's changing colors again.
What are you noticing in your neighborhood? Any seasonal projects going on by you?
