Rochester Man Accused of Threatening Boys with a Knife
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Rochester police have arrested a man who is suspected of chasing some kids with a knife.
The incident happened last Friday afternoon near St Francis Church.
A police spokesman says 26-year-old Nicholas Auringer was riding his bicycle when he passed a group of four boys and ended up in a verbal confrontation with them. The spokesman says at some point, Auringer chased at least two of the boys and apparently flashed a knife.
The boys flagged down a passing deputy and Auringer was brought in for questioning. But he was released without being charged after the boys decided not to cooperate.
Investigators continued to talk to the boys and their parents over the weekend and they finally agreed to talk. Auringer was arrested Monday and was expected to be charged with felony assault.
Two of the boys involved in the incident are 11, one is 13 and the other is 15-years-old.
