Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Nearly two weeks after she was shot in her home, a Rochester woman was able to talk to police investigators.

The 48-year-old woman was shot March 7th in her Elton Hills neighborhood home by an acquaintance who killed himself a few minutes later.

The woman was unconscious for several days after being shot and had been in critical condition. Police Captain John Sherwin says investigators talked to her last week at St. Mary's Hospital and she confirmed what they suspected.

She told the investigators the 71-year-old man showed up at her house around 9 a.m. with some flowers. Sherwin says the two had a past relationship. The woman invited the man in and offered him some tea. She says the man apparently became upset as they talked about their former relationship and then shot her at least twice in the upper body.

The woman says she has no memory of what happened next. Sherwin says the woman was able to get out of her home and collapsed on a sidewalk where witnesses came to her aid and called 911.

After the shooting, the man walked back to his nearby truck where he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
