Many people have seen the plastic container that usually hangs off the drive-thru window at your local Mcdonald's or a container inside restaurants as well that is for the Ronald McDonald House. Most people might drop in spare change or open up their wallets and throw in some paper money because they know it is all for a great cause.

Can you even imagine your child needing medical treatments for an extended period of time, and you are not from the area? Where are you and maybe other family members going to stay? All cram into the hospital room, or rent a hotel. What if something happens to your child and you need to be by their side within minutes?

That is the beauty of the Ronald McDonald Houses, they provide a place to stay for parents and siblings that gives them some sense of normalcy and easy access to the hospital. They also provide activities, some meals and some even have an onsight school.

Unfortunately, a person or persons that obviously does not have a moral bone in their body broke into one of the Ronald McDonald Houses yesterday morning and stole a bunch of items including a large-screen TV, an Xbox console, and assorted games and movies.

The items were all in a room in the house called "The All-Star Lounge" which is a common area for families to hang out and relax. This particular location is near the U of M in Minneapolis East Bank Campus and is across the river from the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital and a few miles from Children's Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Jill Evenocheck, President and CEO of RMHC, Upper Midwest said to WCCO-CBS News: "It is very unusual to have this kind of crime occur on our property and while we expect this to be a one-off event, we will re-examine our security protocols with residents and staff to ensure unauthorized people cannot gain entry to the facility."

If you would like to help RMHC ( Ronald McDonald House Charities) has posted a fundraising effort to its website and created an Amazon wishlist to help replace what was stolen.
