We're in the middle of wedding season right now, but when it comes to movies about weddings, just which one is our favorite here in Minnesota?

These days, weddings can take place pretty much any time of the year, and on just about any day of the week, too. (Okay, they're usually more likely to happen on the weekend days like Friday or Saturday, but I've heard of some weddings taking place on Sundays or during the week too.)

And there's no shortage of weddings on the big screen, either. Because movies where weddings have been featured or where they've been central to the plot have been around for generations, right? So, sure there are a lot of them-- but which ones stand the test of time and are still some of our favorites?

That's what the crew at The Shane Company, a nationwide chain of jewelry stores with locations in the Twin Cities set to find out. (And, btw, did you know they have locations in 15 different cities across the country? I thought they were based here in Minnesota!)

Here's how they determined just which wedding movie is our favorite:

We created a keyword list of 24 popular wedding movies and referenced Google Trends search data from the last five years to determine which one was looked up the most in each state and overall.

So just what is our favorite wedding movie here in

"> the Land of 10,000 Lakes? That honor goes to... Bridesmaids! The hilarious movie starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristin Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, and others that hit theatres in 2011 is the top wedding movie here in

">Bold North. Bridesmaids was also the favorite wedding movie in Illinois and Ohio. (Which kind of makes sense, seeing as the movie was set in the Midwest, in Chicago and Milwaukee.)

Interestingly though, Bridesmaids WASN'T the favorite wedding movie back in my home state of Wisconsin (even though the movie was set there and one of the male characters worked for the Wisconsin State Patrol.) Mama Mia was the favorite over in America's Dairyland.

And, as it turns out, Mama Mia was the favorite wedding movie overall here in the U.S., according to the Shane Co. survey, with seven other states in addition to Wisconsin listing it as their favorite. Meanwhile, The Wedding Singer was the favorite wedding movie down in Iowa.

So now that we know which wedding movie is our favorite, what about wedding songs? Do you know which ones are most popular? Keep scrolling to find out!
