Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - At last report, Rochester police investigators were still at the scene of a reported stabbing in the Country Club Manor neighborhood.

Captain John Sherwin says a 39-year old man took his dog for a walk around 6:30 Wednesday morning and returned home to find an intruder inside.

The homeowner - who said his wife had already left for work - told investigators his rear door was unlocked when he went for his walk. Sherwin says the intruder hit the victim over the head with an unknown object. He says the man then stabbed him in the arm. The man said he began fighting with the intruder and was then stabbed in the hand.The intruder fled and the knife was still in the victim’s hand when officers arrived.

The victim was taken to St. Mary’s for treatment of his injuries, described as non-life threatening.  

The man lives in the 3600 block of 4th Place, near Harriet Bishop school. Officers searched the area and found some items that had been taken from the victim’s home.

Sherwin is asking anyone who may have information in the case to contact the police department.
