Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A suspected Rochester burglar was apprehended by police Tuesday, just hours after a break-in was reported - thanks to the victim’s surveillance cameras.

The break-in was discovered early Tuesday at a new construction site in the 700 block of 2nd St SW. A contractor reported to police four commercial grade space heaters were missing.

The contractor checked the surveillance cameras and determined the burglary occurred around 5 a.m. The cameras also recorded a man loading the heaters into a van. A few hours later, the contractor spotted the van nearby and called police.

Officers talked to the owner of the van and recovered three of the heaters. The suspected burglar said he would return the fourth one. He is expected to face charges.

The contractor estimated the cost of repairs will be $500.
