Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was attacked and robbed Tuesday night but thanks to a cooperative witness, one of the suspected assailants is behind bars.

A police spokesman says the victim was assaulted around 9 p.m. in the 1500 block of 4th Ave SE. The assault began inside a residence and moved outside into the street where the victim was hit over the head with bottles and struck with sticks.

The assailants took $100 in cash from the victim and then drove off. But thanks to the witness, the vehicle they fled in was spotted by officers a short distance away and one of the suspects was arrested.

More arrests are possible.

The victim was taken to St. Mary’s where he was treated and released.
